3:07

Komori Corporation (Sumida-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Satoshi Mochida) has begun full-scale operation of a solar power generation system at Komori Machinery (Nantong) Co., Ltd. (China), Komori’s production base in Nantong.
This initiative, aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions and lowering environmental impact through the use of renewable energy, is aligned with the Komori Eco Vision, Komori’s long-term environmental vision.

Background and purpose

Komori is promoting the introduction of renewable energy across its group sites as part of its efforts to prevent global warming and reduce environmental impact.
As one of these initiatives, Komori Machinery (Nantong) installed a solar power generation system, which began operation in mid-August 2025.

Overview
  • Installed capacity: 880 kW
  • Estimated annual power generation: 900,000 kWh
  • Estimated CO₂ reduction: 530 tons*
  • Renewable energy ratio in total plant electricity consumption: 70 percent

Site overview

Komori Machinery (Nantong) is the Komori Group’s production base in China, manufacturing offset printing presses and related components, primarily for the Greater China market.
Together with the Tsukuba Plant (Ibaraki, Japan) and Komori Machinery Co., Ltd. (Yamagata, Japan), it forms part of Komori’s three-plant production structure, enabling advanced product supply capabilities and flexible delivery schedules.

Long-term environmental vision: Komori Eco Vision

Komori Eco Vision outlines the company’s direction for contributing to a sustainable society built on three key pillars: preventing global warming, supporting a recycling society, and preserving biodiversity.
In 2024, Komori updated its medium- to long-term targets for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The company aims to reduce group CO₂ emissions by 26 percent compared with FY2022 levels and lower operating emissions from its main printing presses by 30 percent by FY2030.

Group-wide initiatives

Komori is actively promoting the introduction of solar power generation systems across its domestic and overseas production sites. In 2016, a 500 kW solar panel system was installed at the Tsukuba Plant in Japan.

MBO Postpress Solutions GmbH (MBO), a Komori Group company responsible for manufacturing and sales of postpress equipment, installed solar power systems, first in Germany in 2022 and then in Portugal in 2023, with a combined capacity of 734 kW. In fiscal 2024, MBO’s total use of renewable energy generated through solar power amounted to 818,000 kWh, equivalent to a reduction of 194 tons of CO₂ emissions.*

Komori will continue to expand the use of renewable energy at its production sites worldwide, fulfilling its responsibilities as a global company.
