Ten-color Lithrone Perfector and Six-color Lithrone G40 Selected for Advanced Automation

Rolling Meadows, IL - February 04, 2019 -

Komori America announces that Solo Printing in Miami, FL, recently purchased two new Komori presses to replace two older Komori sheetfed models in operation. The company, founded by brothers Manny and Jorge Hernandez, Sr. in 1985, has been recognized as one of the nation’s largest minority-owned companies in the printing industry. As the next-generation cousins, Robert and Jorge Hernandez, assume management of family-owned Solo Printing, the purchase of two new Komori presses continues the company’s tradition of investing in the most advanced equipment that allows their business to be efficient and competitive while still producing the best product possible.

The new presses, a ten-color Lithrone perfector (1040P) and a six-color Lithrone G40 (GL640), are equipped with LED, UV and IR curing technology. Solo Printing chose these Komori presses for their ability to deliver advanced automation that results in greater efficiency, color accuracy and quicker makeready to reduce waste. LED-UV curing allows their jobs to go direct to bindery and shipping, meeting their customers’ fast turnaround demands. Additionally, Solo Printing purchased KP-Connect, Komori’s cloud-based productivity solution that monitors press operations, even detecting potential problems before they occur and recommending preventive measures. The company’s cutting-edge print production facility also includes two Komori web presses. Taken all together, the press lineup provides an impressive range of service offerings that Solo Printing can bring to clients.

“Having a Komori ten-color perfecting press on our floor will be a real game-changer for the company in terms of productivity,” said Jorge Hernandez, Jr., vice president of operations for Solo Printing. “With the Komori 1040P, we have the flexibility to produce four-color jobs with varnish and a PMS color all in one pass. Having this efficiency, along with the speed of the new GL640, will make it possible to reduce our costs and offer an extremely fast turnaround for our clients.” Hernandez is looking forward to the fact printed items will be able to cure instantly with LED-UV, adding to Solo Printing’s goals for increased efficiency and speed to market since materials can go from the press directly to bindery.

Solo Printing has high praise for Komori’s technical support. “We have a long partnership with Komori,” said Robert Hernandez, vice president of sales for Solo Printing. “Whenever we need them, they’re there. They have a very knowledgeable team, starting with their salespeople, up to their head mechanics, and a great deal of support on the technology side. We know we can expand our business with these presses; and we know Komori will be right there to support us.”
